MPW:ELZHI

I never feel uncomfortable calling Elzhi one of the greatest rappers of all time. It doesnt matter if he's mainstream or indie or if you heard of him. Because if you really love rap, you woulda heard of the guy by now. And I felt this way even before he released his debut album last year The Preface which had some of the best rap songs I have heard personally. Dude is just majorily talented lyricist and writer. He's already influencing up and coming rappers and rappers in the game right now, yet he is very underrated and hardly talked about. You may know him from Slum Village already, since most people know the songs "Tainted" and "Selfish" but do not judge dude off those songs even tho he rips em. Dude is prolly better than any and every rapper you like. Real Talk. He's currently on the blog's playlist along some of my other favorite rappers (Lupe and Blu.) so check it out. Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch this video right here. It will show you the genius of Elzhi....

Does It Make Sense To Have A "NEW HERO"?

I guess its pretty obvious that as you grow you gain more and more knowledge of things; whether it be about politics, relationships, education systems, arts, whatever. And I assume along the way you gain respect and admiration for people you would have never really thought for two seconds. I asked my co-worker Joey "Does it make sense to have like a New Hero?" He said "yeah, I was that way with Jim Morrison." and then my other co-worker said "The guy who created the Muppets?" hahahah. We both said nah, the singer.(Thats actually Jim Henson. I couldnt remember his name at the time) So I guess when you learn enough about a celeb or a scholar or your next door neighbor, they could become your New Hero. I was watching Tennis the other day(as I try to do when it is on)and for some reason, I got it in my head to look up Arthur Ashe, the legendary tennis player.

The only reason I knew of him was because He was the first black am/pro in tennis. But I was like nah, I want to know way more than that. Why is he honored so much? Because I'm pretty sure if I asked people my age and maybe older, all they could say was "Yeah he was the first black person in tennis" or "Never heard of him" After watching a very shitty documentary about him where random rappers kept saying the same thing about him "He paved the way for black athletes" I came across this proper 45 minute doc on him. Not only was dude an ill tennis player, dude was an avid activist for the cause against Apartheid in Africa, AIDS awareness, More freedom of choice for Tennis players AND an overall nice guy. After 45 minutes, I added him to my hero list. It always feels heeeeelllllaaaa good to learn about a person you didnt know that much about at all and then being inspired by them. Kinda like learning about Malcolm X all over again. R.I.P. ARTHUR ASHE

Chris Brown Got Son'ed By Jay-Z

No love for Mr. Brown at the BET awards, especially from Young, or kind of older Hov. Jay-Z literally shut him down and out of the awards.

Check It Out

Mike Mo Knows

One of the most celebrated skaters in the game right now. And homeboy deserves it hahah. Plus this is a dope commercial with some of the Girl/Chocolate and Lakai riders =]

D.O.A. JAY-Z

"I might wear black for a year straight." Thats my favorite line in the whole song.
