If you ever hear me randomly say "me and my niggas be rollin" which i do all the time for some reason, you may or may not realize i have this song in my head. I think i was in mmmmmmm 7th or 8th(grade) when this came out. Maybe 6th grade, I dont remember but my Dad used to bump this shit all the time. If anyone notices that I usually keep songs on repeat a lot of the time, well thats were I got it from. Nigga would buy a single and listen to it all day haha.

Patience Eyago, Patience
You know people say certain things you do or express are considered good and bad qualities. And I'm kind of really just now understanding why they say patience is a virtue. It has to be the hardest thing to express in certain situations if not any situation. Thats why I give it up for teachers, therapists, fire fighters, parents, ect. Patience is one of those things that we all should try to get better with. I myslef am Ok with it. I can be patient at times, other times, I cant be haha. I guess we're all like that, but I think some are like above that normal level and I applaud them.
Something like getting really gassed up to release an album with a rapper who you feel has a lot of potential to find out you have to continue to wait for the product to be done is tough but its necessary.Espescially, when one of your dreams is about to be realized. I guess with patience, you gain understanding. But in some cases such as relationships, patience and understanding can be a killer. You know, keep you blinded to whats really happening. Double edge sword kind of thing. I'm not sure were this is coming from, I just felt like writing about it. Thanks to everyone who has patience when it comes to me.
I hope you all like the new look of the blog. They gave me the template and I did the colors and shit. hehe. I wanted it to look older and stand out a little bit more than the previous look. I'm still getting used to it.
F.B.
side note: the title comes from the movie Aladdin, if you didnt know haha

MPW:BEIRUT
I've probably mentioned something about a certain time last year when Jerry and I were seriously not feeling hip hop and our musical horizons broaden even wider. Well, one of the bands, if not THE band that pushed us over the edge and out of the relm of hip hop music(for a time) was Beirut. Now, of course Jerry put me on to them because he was like IN LOVE with them haha. And like always, I fell in love too. To give a little history about the band and the lead man of the band Zach Condon, I will have to go off the top of the dome. Condon taught himself guitar or learned it. either way he knew how to play. He hurt himself somehow and the injury prevented him from playing so he picked up the ukulele. He dropped out of college and went back packing through Europe with his brother and I believe some how along the way he created the band called Beirut. He writes all the music I believe but of course with the help of other musicians and unlike their first two albums their latest one was kind of a bust. But the first and second albums make up so big for the third one that I cant even be mad, cause they are an amazing band and Zach Condon is still a genius. This Beirut performing "Nantes" from the album The Fly Club Cup They're still one of my favorite bands out =]
Jerry correct me on any of the history shit haha.
p.s. If you can catch me and Jerry together and ask us to sing a Beirut song, we can do it easily. It just wont sound as good.

ME vs. Black Cinema
All right, let me ask you this question, and at the same time, i'm going to ask myself this. What was the last good film you saw where the majority of the cast was black?
think for a second... *thinking*
ok, Miracle at St. Anna written by James McBride and directed by Spike Lee. Hm. If you know some history about black cinema, you know some of the best black films came from Spike Lee. Some others from John Singleton and F. Gary Grey. Now, what my problem with black films is that they are becoming all too typical, predictable, and flat out, the same thing over and over again. Aside from like a handful of good dramatic films, its mostly Comedy or Romantic Comedy. I love romantic comedies. What I dont love is seeing the same actors playing the same roles in the same situations with the same outcome. I will give it to Tyler Perry for having some decent writing and cinematography in his films, but the whole black people being down, lets go to church thing is getting very old aside from Why Did I Get Married and The Family That Prays.(they actually didnt really even pray haha) It happens in real life, but can we please see something different? Why is it that ever damn year at Sundance or Cannes or the other popular film festivals we do not ever see any films with a black cast? When it comes to major film companies or major motion pictures do we get Next Day Air, This Christmas, First Sunday, and all this other shit that is exactly the same shit thats been put out for years. I liked Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins but I think that was the last straw for me as far as black comedies go. I'm tired of it.
Can we get another Antwuan Fisher mam?! Can we get another Boyz in the Hood? Can we get another Mo Betta Blues? Or a Best Man? PLEASE! I mean, I know we(black ppl) can write good films I know it because I've seen it. But why is not happening? Can I see a black film that doesnt bring the race factor in aaall the time? Is that impossible? Ah, and my final plea is, CAN WE STOP CASTING RAPPERS WHO CANT ACT FOR SHIT????? Seriously. Spike can't do it all by himself. The last good John Singleton movie was what? Baby Boy? Surprisingly, Tyrese and Snoop did good jobs. Idlewild, eh it was ok. ATL, humorous , but I'll pass. I'm sorry, but I'm tired of this shit. This is the second reason why I got into film in the first place. The first is because I like writing stories period, we all know that, but I definitely want to bring black cinema back. Or at least be one of the people who does it. I'm not saying that to be cocky but thats a goal for me. At the end of the day, as black people, we can do better.
p.s.I orignally wanted to see Next Day Air, but taking a look at it, its just like the rest of em. I just like seeing Mos and Wood Harris on screen. =]

We Get So Damn Down
As you all prolly know, S Curl Steve and I took a little trip to SF this weekend. No, there will be no poetic writing about the trip like I did last time haha. Overall, it was fun, funny, and fantastic, minus traveling around the city to find a club which didnt card or one that was 18 and up with cheep prices. The whole point of going was to get some skating in(duh) and rip it up with some folks we met there last month. We only got to skate with one other person(everyone else was busy) and that lovable person's name is Sameet, Caleb's roommate...
The homie took us to a skatepark in Redwood city I believe it was, and the four of us shredded for like 2 hours. Hella fun, Sameet is goooood people. After, he told us about this great mexican food restaurant in San Mateo so we went over there and grubbed. This was my official return to Mexican food because I aint have none in hella long. A nigga had 5 tacos haha.
After the skating and the food and singing of 90's r&b songs in the car, we got back to Caleb's place and all of us crashed out. I think I was the first to be knocked out haha. Oh shit let me back track... The night we got there(friday) we went to this party hosted by some folks from Switzerland. It was cool but we got there a little too late and I dont drink beer sooooo. But anyways, that night I think like maybe ten dudes stayed at the apartment and you can imagine there being noooo space to sleep. So, this one dude we met named Chip told me he slept in the bath tub hahaha...
That morning is how we heard about the party we tried to go to that same night.... After we all got up and took showers and shit from skating Caleb, Sameet and I took a trip to the liquor store so we could get some drank before the party.
What I drank.....
So we hooked up with the crew of people we met last month and made our way to the party, but like most people without a real plan and directions we got lost and walked around in a big ass circle until we found the actual house(which was up the street from were we parked). What turned out to be a bust, the party was ended pretty fast because this random dude said everyone was going to a bar but I think only he went. So the group of us tried to find shit to do, but in the meant time John and Ryan had us and including me HELLA WEAK. John should be in comedy no bullshit and Ryan was just stoned saying stupid shit like "aaaaallll fucking niiiight" hahaha. We ended up splitting up and the original four went out looking for clubs but like I mentioned in the beginning, it was a no go.
It was good weekend but I think I'm gonna give SF a break.....until we start filming our short film :]
p.s. I couldnt get any pics of the rest of the people we hung out with cause I didnt have time or it was hella dark out. John is Mexican(I think) and He kinda looks he could be related to Caleb. Ryan is a tall skinny White dude and real cool. Shout out to them, Mike and Candice.
"Please don't hate my crew cause WE GET SO DAMN DOWN"-Von Pea(of Tanya Morgan)
oh and thank you Rochelle for showing me the proper way to post photos and shit. YES.
