I saw a lot of movies last year, and one movie I wanted to see real bad was Adam. I'm not sure why I never got the chance to see it, until today, but I'd say it's one of the few really good ones that got slept on. I know everyone, including me for a minute, was caught up in 500 Days of Summer and they had good reason to, but I wish Adam was the film everyone talked about. The movie is actually on pause at the moment because I wanted to post something about it. I think EVERYONE should see this movie. It's really special.
Not sure if you all remember but Pharrell did a solo album a couple years ago(half rap, half r&b) all produced by himself. Lyrically, not good at all, musically it was ok, and I think P knew this. He went and got the services of the Yessirs, which is really The Randy Watson Experience, which is really ?uestlove and James Poyser, and they did their THANG!!! I love this album, and the video above is possibly the best song on the remix album...
If you haven't noticed, and I'm pretty sure you haven't, I have stopped doing Music Pick of the Week. Honestly, I was hardly feeling any new rappers, singers, or bands so it was hard to keep doing it so I stopped. So you could say this is a slight return, but not really. The good things about magazines is that you have time to sit with them, and go back through them and look at bands you may want to check out. And i remember wanting to listen to Mumford & Sons as I flipped through the latest issue of Filter Magazine. Yes, they sound like Edward Sharpe and Fleet Foxes, with a bit of Beirut thrown in, but they are different in a way, and I dig em. Hope you will too.
